A bath oil that has not changed since 1931

Olverum was created in 1931 by Edith Klein, a pharmacologist, and her husband Franz Otto Klein, a winemaker, at their home on the banks of the Mosel. The formulation has been kept secret ever since. The name comes from the Latin oleum verum, true oil.

Ten essential oils, and nothing to make bubbles

A concentrated blend of ten botanicals including eucalyptus, fir needle, lavender, rosemary and geranium, with vitamin E. There are no foaming agents, so it does not lather. The oil is drawn into the skin instead of sitting on the surface, which is why the bath is not left greasy afterwards.

Half a capful is the whole dose

Around 5ml in a warm bath. A 125ml bottle gives roughly twenty five baths, which is what makes the price per bath a good deal smaller than the price on the bottle suggests.

The scent is a fougere

Citrus over herbaceous and woody notes, designed to work for anyone rather than reading as masculine or feminine. It fills a bathroom without taking it over.

Bath oil to the King

Olverum holds a Royal Warrant as manufacturer of bath oil to His Majesty The King.

Please note

The formulation contains groundnut (peanut) oil. Anyone with a nut allergy should avoid it. As with any essential oil blend, keep it away from the eyes.
